How to use this days from today calculator

A days from today calculator answers questions like “what is 21 days from today?”, “what date is 4 months from now?” or “what was the date 90 days ago?”. Enter a number, choose days, weeks, months or years, and the date updates instantly, including the day of the week, the total number of days and how many of them are weekdays. You can count from today or from any start date, forwards or backwards, in calendar days or business days.

How to calculate a date from today

To find a date a number of days from today, start from today’s date and move forward one calendar day at a time. The calculator does this exactly, including month ends and leap years. Today counts as day 0, so 1 day from today is tomorrow and 21 days from today is the same weekday three weeks from now.

Days, weeks, months and years

Days and weeks are fixed lengths: a week is always 7 days. Months are not: a month can have 28, 29, 30 or 31 days. When you add months, the calculator moves the calendar month and keeps the same day number, so 4 months from 15 March is 15 July. If that day does not exist (for example 31 February), it uses the last day of the month. To count an exact number of days, choose days instead of months.

Calendar days or business days

Most deadlines, notice periods and countdowns use calendar days. Some contracts, shipping estimates and office processes use business days, which skip weekends. Choose “Business days (Mon–Fri)” to skip Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays differ by country and are not removed automatically, so add any holidays yourself.

Days From Today formulas, explained

Days from a date

Result date = start date + N days

The start date is day 0. Moving across month and year ends follows the real calendar, including 29 February in leap years.

Weeks from a date

N weeks = N × 7 days

Whole weeks always land on the same day of the week as the start date.

Months from a date

Same day, month + N (clamped to the month’s last day)

Months have different lengths, so 4 months is between 120 and 123 days depending on the months involved.

Day of the week

Weekday shift = total days mod 7

21 days mod 7 = 0, so 21 days from a Wednesday is a Wednesday.

Worked examples you can try.

Load an example into the calculator, then change one value to explore.

EXAMPLE 01

21 days from 1 January 2027

Counting 21 calendar days forward from Friday, 1 January 2027 gives Friday, 22 January 2027: exactly 3 weeks later, so the weekday is the same.

EXAMPLE 02

4 months from 31 October 2026

February 2027 has no 31st, so the calculator uses the last day of the month: Sunday, 28 February 2027 (120 days later).

EXAMPLE 03

10 business days from Monday 2 November 2026

Skipping two weekends, 10 working days after Monday, 2 November 2026 is Monday, 16 November 2026: 14 calendar days.

MAKE THE NUMBERS MAKE SENSE

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Counting today as day 1. In date arithmetic today is day 0, so “1 day from today” is tomorrow.
  • Using 30 days when a contract says “1 month”, or 1 month when it says “30 days”. They give different dates.
  • Forgetting public holidays when a deadline is measured in business days.

Frequently asked questions

How does the days from today calculator work?

It reads today’s date from your device and moves forward or backward by the number of days, weeks, months or years you enter, following the real calendar including month ends and leap years.

Can I count from a date other than today?

Yes. Pick any start date. The calculator then counts from that date instead of today.

How do I calculate a date that is X days from today?

Enter the number of days in the calculator and leave the start date as today. Manually, add the days to today’s date and carry over into the next month whenever you pass the last day of the current month (28, 29, 30 or 31 days).

What is 21 days from today?

21 days is exactly 3 weeks, so the date 21 days from today is always on the same day of the week as today, three weeks later. Choose 21 days in the calculator to see the exact date for today, or open the dedicated 21 days from today page.

Is “21 days from now” the same as “21 days from today”?

Yes. For whole days, “from now” and “from today” mean the same thing: count 21 calendar days forward from today’s date. Only if you also care about the time of day would “from now” land at a specific hour.

What date is 4 months from today?

Move the calendar forward 4 months and keep the same day of the month. If today is the 31st and the target month is shorter, the result is that month’s last day. Select 4 months in the calculator, or use the 4 months from today page.

Does the count include today?

No. Today is day 0, so the first day counted is tomorrow. This matches how most deadlines and countdowns are calculated. If you need to include today, subtract one from the number you enter.

How many weeks is 30, 60 or 90 days?

30 days is 4 weeks and 2 days, 60 days is 8 weeks and 4 days, and 90 days is 12 weeks and 6 days. The calculator shows weeks and leftover days for any number you enter.

How do I find the date a number of days ago?

Switch to “Before a date (backward)”. The calculator counts back from today, for example 90 days ago or 6 months ago.

Can I count business days only?

Yes. With days selected, choose “Business days (Mon–Fri)”. Saturdays and Sundays are skipped. Public holidays are not removed because they vary by country and organization.

Methodology & assumptions

Calculations run in your browser using the formulas and assumptions explained on this page. Intermediate values retain full floating-point precision; displayed amounts are rounded. Dates are counted in the calendar your browser uses (proleptic Gregorian) with no time-of-day or time-zone shifts. “Today” is read from your device. Day counts treat the start date as day 0. Adding months keeps the same day of the month and uses the last day of the month when that day does not exist. Business days skip Saturdays and Sundays only; public holidays are not removed.
